DC reviews revenue collection work, peps up officials

Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar reviewed revenue collection work of the district for the financial year 2016-17.

He said it was usual for the people to tend to pay minimum tax. Still efforts should be put in to achieve the yearly revenue collection target, he told the revenue officials.

Kumar said the revenue officials should widen the periphery of tax collection and ensure that all people coming under it pay tax without fail.

As per departmental data, the revenue collected by the commercial tax department in Town Circle is 68 per cent of the total target for the year while for Jamshedpur circle the figure is 53 per cent .In Singhbhum circle, the figure is 47 per cent while in Adityapur division and the registry office, the figures are 76.5 per cent and 46.4 per cent. The mining, excise, electricity and transport departments have collected 92, 49, 92.3 and 56 per cent revenue, officials said. In all the three municipal areas, Jugsalai collected lowest revenue, sources said.

The DC directed the officials to work on a special strategy in the last two months of the fiscal year and achieve the annual revenue collection target.
