Jamshedpur: Puja Marwaha, CEO of Child Rights and You (CRY), as part of the Leadership Series, addressed the students of XLRI General Management Programme on Friday. The leadership series is aimed at developing creative leadership and at connecting industry stalwarts to the MBA students.

An alumni of XISS Ranchi (a Jesuit institute), Marwaha gave up her corporate job and devoted herself to the cause of children welfare. She started the inspiring lecture by questioning the purpose of living. She credited the Jesuit institute as one of the motivating factors that aided her transformation into a social activist.

The guiding philosophy that drives Marwaha is to question, experiment and change. Awakening the audience towards something beyond academics, Marwaha emphasised on finding meaning in what a person does.

The words of wisdom conveyed in the lecture were further strengthened by the examples of few ordinary lives that were transformed with the help of self-belief.

She strongly emphasised that small pieces of hope are more than enough to create a sea of change in peoples attitude. In order to have a sustainable society, she said development as not a sprint but a marathon and highlighted the need for continuous focused development rather short term goals.

To drive home the point, she also mentioned the importance of development of support services prior to promotion of microfinance.
