Corona blast in Jamshedpur, 402 test positive, two succumb to virus

24 patients recover, active cases at 950


Jamshedpur, Jan 4: The second wave of Corona virus in Jamshedpur is setting new records every day. According to the latest report of the East Singhbhum health department, 402 new corona cases have been reported on Tuesday, January 4 and two people have lost their lives.

East Singhbhum’s death toll went up to 1065 after a 71-year-old woman resident of Dimna Road in Mango succumbed to the disease at TMH while an 86-year-old man of Telco died due to the virus at Tata Motors Hospital. Earlier on January 3, a 69-year-old resident of Agrico in Sidhgora succumbed to the disease at TMH, the first such fatality to be reported after a month.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 is once again on the rise in Jamshedpur. On Tuesday, 402 cases were reported positive taking the total active cases in the city to 950.

12 case has been reported from Bagbera, 15 from Baridih, 11 from Birsanagar, 55 from Bistupur, 8 from Burmamines, 6 each from Chakulia and Ghstila, 17 each from Golmuri, Sakchi and Sonari, 25 from Jugsalai, 37 from Kadma, 33 from Mango, 22 from Parsudih, 1 from Patamda, 5 from Sidhgora, 68 from Telco and 48 from different areas of city.     

New infections recorded on January 4 are the highest single-day surge in the Steel City during the third wave.

With sudden rise in cases, health department is on its toes and started screening of patients.  

If this trend continues, then the third wave of Coronavirus cannot be ruled out.

The positivity rate rose to 3.83 per cent in Jamshedpur.

The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 53247 and the death count is now 1065, according to the latest health bulletin.

The new cases came out of the 10484 tests conducted on Tuesday.

The best efforts of the state government and district administration will not pay dividends until and unless people themselves realize that the third wave is already knocking down human wickets and it is high time to take a defensive stance to avoid further blows.

There are 950 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.

As many 51232 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 24 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. 10,484 COVID-19 tests, including 2721 RT-PCR, 7463 RAT and 300 TueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 756282 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 96.95% while the mortality rate is 2 %.

So far in Jamshedpur 2025749 samples have been collected out of which 2013224 have been tested and 1953377 have turned out to be negative.
