Cops probe Patratu links to coal trader murder case


    Jamshedpur: City police has sought the assistance of Ramgarh police to make headway into the killings of Rajkishore Pandey, the Patratu-based coal trader, and his private bodyguard Bablu Singh.

    Earlier today, autopsy was performed on the bodies of the deceased trader and his bodyguard at MGM Medical College. The bodies were sent to Patratu. An FIR was lodged in this connection by Kadma police against unidentified assailants.

    Four unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants gunned down Pandey and his private bodyguard in Kadma market under Kadma police station area yesterday. The incident took place in the evening when the deceased was purchasing meat in a shop at Kadma market.

    Investigators so far suspect the killing to be the result of failed extortion bid or the result of a gangwar. They also suspect the background of the deceased coal trader. We are trying to reach to the root cause of the killing with the help of evidence collected so far. We are also taking the help of Ramgarh police to get clues linked with Patratu,” said Amol Venukant Homkar, SSP, East Singhbhum.

    The trader and his bodyguard, Bablu Singh alias Sidharth Singh, succumbed to the bullets at the scene. Pandey’s another private bodyguard Suman Singh sustained serious bullet injuries. He is under treatment at Tata Main Hospital.

    Pandey was in city to see his family at Vijaya Gardens, Kadma. Around 5.30 pm, Pandey went out with his guards for some shopping in Kadma market.
