Cops nab one while stealing BTM from mobile tower in Telco

Jamshedpur, April 29: Police arrested one Amit Prasad red-handed while he was allegedly trying to steal BTM machine from a mobile tower of Vodafone from near Nildih roundabout under the Telco police station area on Friday.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, City SP Chandan Jha said that the raid conducted under the leadership of DSP (City) Animesh Nethani.

While the police managed to arrest Amit, a resident of Bhatia Bustee in Kadma, his friend Babu, a resident of Dimna Road, managed to flee. Brajesh Kumar Bharti alias Babu who was involved in case of BTM stealing escaped on his two-wheeler as he saw the police.

The machine has been stolen several times from the Vodafone tower in Telco police station area. Cops were watchful after the incident for several months.

A BTM machine costs Rs 5 lakh and no mobile tower would function without it.

The City SP informed that Amit had been to jail in connection with a criminal case in 2013. According to Jha, Amit runs a gang across Jamshedpur.

Though a BTM machine is of no value to common man, it is considered to be the heart of any mobile tower.
