Jamshedpur: Urban Services department of Tata Steel organized a convocation for the successful candidates of the road safety steward training programme for the unemployed youths of various bustis in the city on Wednesday last at at Safety Excellence Centre.
Vilas N Gaikwad, Chief Safety & Ergonomics, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as the chief guest and handed over certificates to 20 successful candidates.
The company launched new employability training on ‘Road Safety Steward’ for the unemployed youth of the bustees in collaboration with Safety Excellence Centre (SEC) and NTTF on September 18 last.
The programme concluded on October 18 last. A total of 20 youths successfully completed the training programme and got recruited by different vendors of Tata Steel and others.
Urban Services designed the month-long training programme with an aim to train the local unemployed youth and provide them with a sustainable livelihood opportunity.
Employees from Safety Excellence Centre (SEC) also offered free training as part of ‘Employee Volunteerism’, said a company spokesperson.
