Jharkhand CM holds meeting on law and order after Ranchi daylight firing in Morabadi

Ranchi, January 28:  Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a high level review meeting on law and order on Friday especially in the wake of gangwar at Morabadi in Ranchi yesterday.

PHemant Soren instructed the police officers to maintain law and order in the state and prevent crime at any cost during the meeting at the Chief Minister’s residential office in Kanke Road, Ranchi.

Chief Minister directed the officers that the police should identify the professional criminals and deal with them strictly. The police should remain sensitive and ready to control crime in the state. The Chief Minister said that maintaining law and order is an important responsibility of the State Government. Due to the stricture of crime control and law and order, the pace of development works going on in the state will increase and people will get the real benefits of the schemes.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the broad daylight firing incident at Morabadi Maidan in Ranchi. The Chief Minister directed the police officials that the criminals involved in the Morabadi incident should not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest legal-action should be ensured against the culprits.

The meeting was attended by chief secretary Sukhdev Singh, DGP Neeraj Sinha, principal secretary-cum-principal Secretary of Home Department Rajiv Arun Ekka, municipal commissioner Ranchi Mukesh Kumar, SSP Ranchi Surendra Kumar Jha and other officers were present in the meeting.

Significantly, unidentified men fired indiscriminately in the busy Morabadi area, a few metres from JMM chief Shibu Soren’s old residence and walking distance from Ranchi DC and SSP residences on Thursday afternoon, killing one person and injuring two others.


The victims were identified as Kalu Lamba who had criminal antecedent.

The injured persons, identified as Raju Lamba and Subham Vishwakarma, have been rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences where they were said to be in critical condition.

Police said the assailants who came on two-wheelers chased the victims who were in a car and shot at them. They have been identified as Sonu Sharma and Raju Choti, the police added.
