CKP division launches �Rail Hamsafar Saptaah�, inspection of catering units today

Jamshedpur, May 26: The Chakradharpur railway division on Thursday launched a week-long �Rail Hamsafar Saptaah,� an event to� highlight the achievements of railways during the last two years.

During the event from May 26 to June 1, the Chakradharpur division will highlight the several initiatives taken in the last two years and also present the significant achievements made by it.�

During the last two years, a number of initiatives have been launched and significant achievements made by the Indian Railways in all spheres, especially in its responsiveness, accessibility and improvement of passenger amenities.

Launching the event at Tatanagar�railway station, divisional railway manager of Chakradharpur, Rajendra Prasad said the week will be marked with various events and each day has been assigned a name as well as purpose like cleanliness, inspection of catering units, ensuring punctuality of trains, ticket checking, interaction with�passengers to know their problems and meeting freight customers and informing them about various reforms and policy initiatives.���

The divisional railway manager was accompanied with other senior officials including the senior divisional commercial manager Satyam Prakash and assistant station superintendent of Tatanagar Malay Mallick.�

This week will be marked with various events and each day has been assigned with a special name as well as purposes, namely, on cleanliness, punctuality, catering, ticket checking, passenger interaction, freight customer interaction and interaction with media.

On the first day of ‘Rail Hamsafar Saptaah’ on Thursday, the Chakradharpur division observed ‘Swachchta Diwas’ wherein� intensive cleanliness drive was undertaken in all major stations including Tatanagar, Chakradharpur and Rourkela, which falls under the Chakradharpur division. Cleanliness operation was also carried out in several important trains which pass through the division.

As part of the week, tomorrow (Friday) will be observed as ‘ Satkaar Diwas,’ wherein railway officers will be inspecting all catering units and drinking water facilities at railway stations and on trains. �We are looking forward to make the week effective.

The objective is to ensure that all�catering establishments are improved to the desired standards with complete display of rate list of items being sold,” said a senior railway official.

Saturday will be observed as ‘Sewa Diwas’ during which nominated railway officers shall travel on selected trains and interact with passengers to know their problems. Sunday will be observed as ‘Satarkata Diwas,’ a drive to ensure punctuality of trains and intensive ticket checking shall be conducted in various railway stations under the division.
