Kolkata, Jan 14 (IANS) Ahead of the West Bengal assembly polls, the Election Commission here has introduced its digital citizen interface and will soon take it up a notch further with the launch of a smartphone app in a month, officials said.

After the success of ‘Samadhan’ (the public grievance redressal system) in Bihar polls last year, the EC introduced the software in Bengal in January with customisation for the state’s requirements.

“The mobile app will be launched within a month. Initially it will be introduced for Android phones and later on for Windows,” a top poll panel official told IANS.

‘Samadhan’ entails not just addressing complaints, but also provides data on the election process and users can submit suggestions on the poll process. It also cuts back on paper and streamlines the process.

“We have initiated many add-ons. Citizens can post queries and we will reply,” the official added.

Apart from ‘Samadhan’, two other IT-enabled services (‘Suvidha’ and ‘Sugam’) will be launched in the run-up to the elections.
