Chaibasa: Four blocks record 69 % turnout during panchayat polls

Chaibasa, Nov. 28: During the second phase Panchayat polls in the state, voters from Kumar Dungi block of booth number 29 and 33 and Manjhgaon Block of booth number 118 and 119 boycotted the election and not a single person came out to vote at these booths on Saturday.

The district election commission despite awareness drive, failed to attract the voters at these booths. However, it recorded 69 percent turnout. Block wise at Tonto Block 68 per cent, Jagnnathpur block 75 per cent, Hatgamahria block 71 per cent, Manjhgaon block 70 per cent, Kumardungi block 62 per cent.

The voters in large number lined-up sincemorning .The second phase of election concluded peacefully.

Most of the polling officer reached at Mahila college chaibasa and Jagnnathpur strong room at 6 pm. The strong rooms were inspected by the candidates under the supervision of election observers.

The most part of Tonto block comes under the Maoists threat, despite the threat voters of villages exercised their franchise at booths.
