Bengal players steal the show at AITA Championship Series in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Nov 11: Bengal players stole the show at the ongoing Tata Steel AITA Championship Series 2021, being held at the Deco Turf courts of the JRD Tata Sports Complex. The 7-day championship will witness the finals tomorrow and Ms Atrayee Sanyal, Vice President, Human Resource Management, Tata Steel Limited will grace the Prize Distribution Ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Bengal boys, Shivam Khanna and Keshav Goel will face each other in the Boys Singles Under 18 final.

In the semi-final today, Shivam Khanna rallied past Odisha’s Steven Ankit Ekka by a straight 6-4,7-6(6) whereas Keshav Goel outclassed Bihar’s Vaibhav Singh by an easy 6-2,6-3.   

In the Girls Singles Under 18 category, once again the Bengal girls have managed to set up the summit clash as the top 2 seeds Sumeira Jaiswal and Rituja Saha entered the final with a dominating victory over Samriddha Basu and Tanisha Roy respectively. 

Sumeira Jaiswal defeated her state mate Samriddha Basu 6-2,6-0 to enter final while Rituja Saha of West Bengal beat Tanisha Roy 6-1,6-2 to set up summit clash with Sumeira Jaiswal.

In the Girls Doubles Under 18 finals, Kinza Shaikha and Priyasakhi Sajnani of Bengal got the better of statemates Rituja Saha and Tanisha Roy by 6-3,6-3. The Boys Doubles under 18 final is currently on court.

The singles finals will be held at 09:30 am tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
