Jamshedpur, Dec. 3: Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi addressed young students from Motilal Nehru Public School at the UnManifesto, a youth programme under United Nations Population Foundation Programme (UNFP).
He interacted as a public representative and answered questions on how to make politicians accountable for their work.
Students of class XI from Motilal Nehru Public School posed questions to Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi in their school today. Subjects like eve-teasing, higher education and NH-33 took to the fore during interaction.
UnManifesto is a UNFP sponsored programme where school and college students interacts on the concept of politics and its related terms to make politicians more accountable.
The young MLA from Bharagora said that he has tried his best to meet expectations of people. In order to be a good politician there is need to stop by and listen to people, drink water whomsoever you are visiting and don’t make promises which you would not deliver. Try and devote yourself for people.
In Jamshedpur there are four schools, Gulmohur High School, Jamshedpur Public School, Motilal Nehru Public School and JH Tarapore, which took up the project through a city-based NGO People for Change, the implementing agency of the programme in East Singhbhum.
Sarangi further noted: ďIf you want to become an MP, MLA or even CM just for power and the glamour then better not pursue it.
Only when you would want to do something for the society genuinely, do come in politicsĒ.
In the end the students handed a charter of demands which was presented to Sarangi.
The charter of demands included focus on skill development in schools, better higher education opportunities in the state and reservation only on the basis of economic status.
