Jamshedpur: The mystery behind the gun-shot attack on 58-year-old trader at Mango continues, as the police are yet solve the mystery.

Some of police officers involved in the probe are focussed on all angles, another section doubt that the attack on trader Kailash Agrawal was the result of an extortion bid.

“We are yet to find out the criminals who entered at Agrawal’s house at Subhash Colony in Mango on January 30 morning. So far we have concluded that the attack was not intended to commit loot as the armed criminals did not take anything even after inflicting grievous gun-shot injury to Agrawal.

But we suspect the criminals must have attacked the trader due to rangdari,” said deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-I) KN Mishra.

The DSP who is also a part of the investigation said that Agrawal would stay along with his three brothers at Tank Road in Mango. Agrawal who has two shops at Mango market bought a new single-storeyed house at Subhash Colony four years ago. He bought the house at Rs 20 lakh. Undoubtedly, those criminals who attacked him must have made some extortion demand and when he refused to oblige, they came and shot at him,” said Mishra.

The three criminals , who entered over the house of trader Kailash Agrawal at Subhash Colony in Mango on Monday morning, had also visited the same house three days ago, requesting to stay on rent.

A senior police officer said that it is possible that the three-member gang which had entered over Agrawal last morning had come to the house three days ago for carrying out a recce.

Meanwhile, condition of 58-year-old Agrawal who has been shifted at the Tata Main Hospital’s critical care unit (CCU) from the hospital high dependency unit (UDU) continues to be serious.

Agrawal who owns a grocery shop at Mango market was shot at and seriously injured by a gang of three criminals who entered into the house at the densely-populated Subhas Colony on Monday.

Though the criminals were not able to take along anything, the family members and kin of the gun-shot victim claim that the criminals had swooped over the house for committing loot. The police have not ruled out the loot angle behind the armed attack, but claim that there may be some other angle which they would find out only after carrying out the investigation.

“It is very early to say anything about the reason behind the shooting. Though three masked men entered into Agrawal’s house and shot at him after assaulting him inside his house, the reason behind this crime is not clear. We are probing into the incident to find out the reason,” said Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand.

The city SP said initial probe suggests that the reason behind attack on the trader’s house by three masked men was not loot as they have not taken anything along with them.

But, Pawan Agrawal, one of the three brothers of the gun-shot victim claimed that the reason behind the gun-shot attack was loot.
