Ashiana Enclave women celebrate Sawan Mahotsav with pomp and show

Jamshedpur, Aug 6: The residents of Ashiana Enclave at Dimna organized a grand Sawan Mahotsav at the Community Hall on Friday. The programme began with Ganpati Vandana and invocation to Lord Shiva. A number of events were lined up for the glittering evening made awesome by the dazzling beauties dressed in green saris. Several competitive events were organized for the women residents. They included make-up contest, mehendi contest, ramp walk, dance and singing. The participants showcased their diverse talents by singing Kajri to the beat of Dholak. Kitti Srivastava was declared winner of the Sawan Queen contest while Pallavi was adjudged runner-up. Megha Singh and Ranjani were declared Talented Woman and Brave Woman respectively. Ranjani is a renowned snake catcher.

The judges for the events were Jyotirmay Mishra, Madhu Verma and Kanchan. The programme was organized by secretary Laxmi Tiwary, Neelu Bhamra and Divya Verma among others. “The purpose of the programme was to bring together all women on the campus and make a united effort to celebrate the rich Indian culture through celebration of festivals. This would inspire the succeeding generations to follow suit and preserve our cultural heritage,” said Laxmi Tiwary.

The organizing committee president Madhu Verma congratulated all participants. Symbols of marital bliss were distributed among the participants at the conclusion of the event. More than 75 women made the event successful.
