Arrested Al-Qaeda city youths father expresses surprise over son’s terror links

Jamshedpur, Jan. 18: Abdul Sattar, father of Abdul Sami who was arrested for suspected links with Al Qaeda, is shocked by the arrest of his son and is still unable to digest the news.

“I was stunned when an advocate from Delhi called me at around 3.30 pm on Monday informing me about my son Abdul Sami’s arrest by Delhi Police from Haryana’s Mewat district. Sami is the third of my four sons. My three other work in Middle East and all though my life I haven’t seen any unusual activity from him,” said Abdul Sattar, resident of Road No. 2, B Block, AK Residency in Dhatkidih under Bistupur Police Station.

The former Tata Steel employee further said Sami did his schooling from Jamshedpur and passed out from Karim City College. He was part of a jammat (religious group) from Jamshedpur, which left the city around 15 days back, his father said.

A neighbor of Abdul Sami said, this family is well-behaved and religious minded and no one has seen them involved in any unusual activity.

Earlier, Abdul Sami and family used to live in Tata Steel quarters located in Sakchi and have shifted to Dhatkidih around two years back
