Jamshedpur, June 19: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar and SSP Anoop T Mathew during a review of law and order situation at the district headquarters today directed police officials to identify sensitive spots and prepare a list of anti-social elements threatening peace.

Directives were also issued to carry out a drive against encroachment, illegal parking, overloading and consumption of narcotic substance. “We want to ensure a peaceful festive season. The meeting was organised to review the law and order situation in the city as well as in the rural areas of the district, said one of the officials.

The DC said the law and order situation in the steel city was absolutely under control and if any shortcomings will be detected they will be taken care of by the senior superintendent of police Anoop T Mathew.

Today’s meeting was attended by all deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) posted in East Singhbhum. It was held in a closed chamber.

Sources in the police department said the DC had also laid much stress on the intensified patrolling on the streets and at other strategic locations.

Speaking about the security arrangements, the SSP said, We would be deploying additional number of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) in the city. We would also install additional number of CCTV cameras at the strategic locations.

Vehicular traffic, the major concern will be under the administrations scanner from this week as this issue is also an impediment in the way of organizing smooth flow.

Road accidents leading to blockading of streets is very common in the city. So, in order to avoid such scenes during festivals, the traffic police has worked out an altered route chart for heavy vehicles movement that will be made public next week, informed a district traffic official.
