Administration re-launches anti encroachment drive at Sakchi,


    Jamshedpur, Aug. 24 : The district administration has re-launched anti encroachment after the local vendors who were removed from the Sakchi marketplace near Basant Talkies by the local administration had resumed their business by setting up make-shift shops at same place.

    According to information about 100 vendors had put up their shops at Sakchi.

    Led by sub-divisional officer, Dhalbhum, Prabhat Kumar, and City SP Prashant Anand a team of police force carried the drive and removed the unauthorised foot-path vendors.

    He said that the administration is serious about the rising encroachment in the city. Steps are being taken to ensure hassle free traffic. Vendors have been warned not to put up their shops on the footpaths.

    The drive was carried JNAC City Manager was assaulted by BJP supporters following demolition of illegal construction of Gurdev Singh Raja. Today, the police targeted another BJP activist Ramfal Singh, who had set up illegal workshop at Kasidih from past several decades.

    “As per our information the evicted foot-path vendors had started putting up their make-shift shops. Today, the vendors had turned up to set up their make-shift shops in a greater number due to Ganesh Puja. We, therefore, prompted to launch a fresh drive against them and removed them all once again,” said Kumar.

    The SDO said that foot-path vendors have been asked that they not be allowed to encroach any vacant portion at Sakchi market as it will be used for parking vehicle and facilitating the customers toJNAC walk freely.

    With city roads squeezing day by day due to encroachments, the district administration launched launch anti-encroachment drive.

    We want to streamline the traffic movement in the city. We are taking initiatives to vacate the illegal constructions so that the vehicles can move easily,” said an officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee.

    A senior official said that after the anti-encroachment drive, the administration had taken photograph of the encroachment free Sakchi market and now they would maintain the same status as the act of putting up shops on the pavement would create immense inconvenience to the people.
