Administration to ensure video surveillance during Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur, March 28 : With an aim to ensure peaceful Ramnavmi, the East Singhbhum administration is making elaborate arrangements. The administration will deploy adequate policemen and paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incident. Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly.

Moreover, the administration has decided to ensure video surveillance during the Ramnavami procession and immersion ceremony scheduled on April 5 and 6 respectively.

Administration in a directive issued today has directed the local police station officials and the Ramnavami Akhara committees to ensure that video recording of the procession (on April 5) and immersion procession (on April 6) is carried out by the Akhara committees.

“The administration on its own will also be arranging video photography teams which will be deputed on the routes of the procession and conduct photography. The magistrates will have to report if the Akhara committees are conducting video photography or not,” said an official.

“We want to ensure fool proof security arrangements. This would be in addition to the CCTV cameras already installed on roads of Sakchi and Bistupur by the district police to keep an eye on trouble mongers. Recordings would be observed by city police at the police control room,” he added.

The administration has divided the district into 25 zones according to police station areas, and six super-zones, which include cluster of thanas, ahead of the Ramnavami festivity. The zonal and super-zonal officials have been asked to coordinate with local urban bodies – Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Jusco, Mango Noified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality – to ensure cleaning of ghats and roads before the festivity.

The Ramnavami immersion ceremony will take place at following ghats namely Subernarekha in Sakchi, Kapali and Domuhani in Sonari, Sati in Kadma, Bhuiyandih in Sitaramdera-Sidhgora, Bodhanwala in Bistupur and Baroda in Bagbera. Another official said that all police stations have been asked to interact with local akharas committee on a regular basis for a peaceful festival.

District administration has fallen back on corporate help to tide over water exigencies during Ramnavami festival earlier it was only Jusco who was asked to provide water through tankers to various akharas taking out Ramnavami processions. But this time different corporate sectors have been asked to provide water tankers for water supply in their nearby areas.
