ADG arrives in city for investigation, police recover two bikes used in murder

Jamshedpur : Additional director general, CID, Ajay Kumar Singh arrived in the city for assisting in the investigation in to the murder of Upendra Singh, who was shot dead on Wednesday. Singh said he has come here on the directive of director general of police, Jharkhand, DK Pandey.

” The probe is moving in the right direction. There were five shooters at the civil court premise for getting the killing of Upendra Singh executed. Two of them have already been arrested, where as three others are on the run,” the ADG (CID) said.

The senior CID officer said from the findings it has been ascertained that Upendra’s murder was conspired and executed by his rival Akhilesh Singh.” It is clear that old enmity over business rivalry between Upendra and Akhilesh was the reason behind the murder” said the ADG.

Significantly, Upendra Singh allegedly conspired to kill Akhilesh at the same civil court premises last year when the latter had been brought to the court premises for production in 2014. In the abortive bid on Akhilesh, the police had arrested two assailants from the court premises itself.

Notably, Upendra Singh (56) was gunned down by a gang of armed assailants on the second floor of the Jamshedpur Bar Building on the civil court premises at about 2 pm on Wednesday while the murder victim was discussing over his bail issue in an assault case registered with the Bagbera police station in October this year.

Meanwhile, police recovered two bikes in and outside the civil court premises at Humepipe area in Sitaramdera.

One of the bikes, having registration No JH05AB-7176 was parked just inside the court premises, the other without a number plate was parked outside the boundary wall of the civil court premises, suggesting that those shot dead Upendra had come on two-wheelers.

The police seized the two bikes from the court premises and forwarded one of the shooters as Sonu Singh alias Vicky ( 24) to Ghaghidih Central Jail after producing him before a judicial magistrate in the evening.
