Jamshedpur, July 14: Students applying for undergraduate admission at the ABM College today protested against alleged paying double charges for application. Concerned over the plight of students, college’s students union protested at the college campus.

Students who came to the college today said that they had already paid twice for the prospectus once online and at the college. The sale of prospectus started on July 11 but stopped after the senior students of the college protested.

As per the process, students need to log on to the Kolhan University website and click on the online application for P.G and U.G registration to create a user id and password.

After which, they will have to log in through the generated id and password to enter the website from the tab–Online admission for all under graduate courses to fill up the form where they can apply for admission. They will get a notification about the documents required to fill the admission forms. Students will have to upload pictures, their address and other details.

Students can also choose their colleges as per the choice of the subject. According to preference an applicant will choose the colleges and will have to also pay Rs 100 per college. The payment can be done through an online payment gateway.

“Though we applied online through the Kolhan University’s website. There we paid a challan of Rs 200 as I opted for commerce in ABM College and Jamshedpur Co-operative College but I learnt that the college too was selling prospectus.

We thought we had to buy in order to separately apply in the college but yesterday we learnt that colleges weren’t suppose to take admission as everything was centralized from this year,” said a student applying for commerce at ABM College.

Many other students bought the college prospectus paying an extra Rs 100. The college had already sold over 100 such prospectus for UG in the past three days. When asked the college authorities they said they wanted to keep a track record of the students seeking admission.

Prem Prakash Dubey, president of the students union of ABM College said that the college is flouting norms of admission. Students are not aware and we came to know about this incident today so we protested and stopped the sale of prospectus. When the Kolhan University announced online admissions through the website there is no need of selling prospectus in campus.

S.B. Tiwary, principal of ABM College said that the college sold for the record of the students. He was working as per the tradition. It has been a tradition to issue prospectus so that we maintain a record but this new system is confusing
