71 COVID positives in Jamshedpur today, active cases climb to 413

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, April 1: After witnessing a consistent slump in coronavirus cases for couple of months, Jamshedpur is now seeing a fresh surge in daily Covid-19 cases.

Panic gripped the city as 71 new cases were reported on Thursday, April 1 a day after Jamshedpur saw 121 COVID cases.

The positive cases have now reached the mark of 18977. So far 376 deaths have been reported. The active cases are now 413.

It is really very surprising that after the decline for a few months the cases are again rising with every passing day. 

The active cases in Jamshedpur have risen to 413 with 71 new positives reported on Thursday, April 1.      

On Thursday, East Singhbhum district saw 32 people recover of the virus.

All the new 71 cases are from Jamshedpur urban area.

32 people recovered of the virus on Thursday taking the total recovery to 18188 while total active cases in Jamshedpur are 413.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 233621 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 96.20% while the mortality rate is 1.98 %.

So far in Jamshedpur 636030 samples have been collected out of which 621900 have been tested and 602923 have turned out to be negative.

On the other hand, Coronavirus tally in Jharkhand on Thursday reached 1,24,891 as 690 new cases of Covid-19 were detected while 162 people were discharged from various hospitals across the state. During the day 1 death were reported from Dumka as a result of which the overall death count climbed to 1114. Total active cases in Jharkhand are 3352.

As per the information provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 3352 while number of cured and discharged cases stood at 1,20,425.

The vigil has been stepped up at Tatanagar Railway Station. All the passengers are undergoing thermal screening, and have to fill up their travel history and contact details at the Tatanagar Station.

The health department has also intensified testing. Random tests are being conducted at market places in Sakchi and Bistupur.

East Singhbhum district health authority has made it mandatory to subject every commuter coming from Bengal and Odisha to undergo Covid test at the checking points in the district from Wednesday.
