55 year old man killed in road mishap on Burmamines-Station Road

Jamshedpur, March 15 : A 55-year-old man was killed in a road mishap as he was hit by a tanker and subsequently run over by the heavy vehicle near Star Talkies under Burmamines police station area on Thursday morning.The mishap victim was identified as Ashim Biswas, a resident of Zone No. 6 in Birsanagar.

The mishap took place when the victim on his way to work on Burmamines-Station Road.

According to information, the victim was riding his scooter beside a water tanker which was coming from the Burmamines end toward railway station.
“While he was riding his scooter there was a water tanker.

He tried to ride overtake another car. But the tanker driver could not see the victim while he was taking a turn for the right. As a result of which the victim was first hit by the tanker and as he fell down with the vehicle, it (the water tanker) run over him who was still lying on the road. The victim died on the spot,” said an eye witness.


After the mishap, several local residents, mostly shop owners gathered at the spot and set up a blockade on the Burmamines-Station Road, demanding compensation to the victim’s family and also for better vehicular traffic control on the road.

The road blockade was removed in half-an-hour after the intervention of the police.
OC, Burmamines police station, Jagdev Prasad Singh said that the tanker driver could not see the scooter rider and this led to the mishap.
