50-year-old woman commits suicide at Kashidih


    Jamshedpur : A 50-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her home in Kashidih under Sakchi police station area.

    The deceased was identified as Manjulata Sahu who was a widow.

    According to relatives, mother of two sons, the deceased was alone at her home. When the son returned home at 10.30 pm, he found his mother hanging from the ceiling.

    Later the police were informed and the body was recovered from the house to be shifted to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

    Officer-in-charge, Sakchi police station, Indu Bhushan Ojha said this to be a case of suicide. “This is a suicide case. There must be some family feud behind this drastic step. We are investigating into the case,” said the officer-in-charge, adding that a case under Section of Unnatural Death has been registered with the Sakchi police station on the statement of the deceased’s son.

    In another incident, body of a young woman was found lying in the Subarnarekha river near River Meet along the marine drive under Sonari police station area this morning.

    The body, which is yet to be identified was that of a 28-year-old woman. It was decomposed and seemed to be in the water since the past four days.

    The woman was apparently married and seemed to be from a descent family.

    Officer-in-charge, Sanjiv Kumar of Sonari police station said that the body was decomposed and thus they cannot say whether it was a case of drowning or murder.
