50-year-old man killed in road mishap near Timken company

: Traffic movement came to stand still on Bara-Timken for more than two hours on Sunday as a section of local residents put up a blockade to protest a mishap taken place in front of Timken company under Sidhgora police station area.

A 50-year-old man, Anil Kumar Singh, was killed in a mishap near of the Timken company in the wee hours today.
The protestors, from Bagun Nagar in Sidhgora protested and demanded adequate compensation to the members and also keeping the Bara-Timken road properly lit during the night.

As the blockade started deputy superintendent of police (city) KN Chowdhury rushed to spot and spoke to the protestors and assured them that the police will try to get their demands fulfilled.

Anil who was a resident of Bagun Nagar was driving a car and hit a trailor near Tata Timken company. The car was completely damaged and the driver was killed.

Officer-in-charge, Sighgora police station Ganesh Kumar Singh said that the mishap victim was working under a city-based travel agency and was returning home at Bagun nagar having dropped a passenger at the Tatanagar Railway station around midnight.

The officer-in-charge, however, pointed out that the mishap victim was driving at a high speed and might have lost the control over the vehicle which ultimately rammed into the parked trailer. The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

�Something has to be done to reduce the speed of vehicles near human habitations. There is no use in putting up boards showing speed limits or marking accident prone zones. The road has not improved our lives beyond providing better connectivity,� said a resident.
