41-year-old unemployed man slits 38-year-old wife at Birsanagar


    Jamshedpur : In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old unemployed man, slits his 38-year-old wife for not providing him money to drink at Garurbasa under Birsanagar police station, on Sunday morning.

    The incident took place around 8 am. The culprit Manoj Karmakarhad a fight with his wife DipalikaKarmakar (who worked as a maid) for not giving him money to drink liquor and out of rage brought out a knife from a nearby shop to slit his wife throat.

    We are investigating the incident. As per our initial probe, the man was unemployed for some months and used to demand money from his wife to drink liquor. Today morning, however, his wife refused to give him money as he had to take her youngest daughter to a doctor as she was ill.

    The man brought out a knife from a nearby shop and slit his wife throat after pinning her down to a cot,” said Birsanagar police station officer-incharge, Upender Narayan.

    As the incident took place the neighbours nabbed the accused and handed him over to police and rushed a bleeding DipalikaKarmakar to MGM Medical College and Hospital in an auto-rickshaw where the doctor declared her brought dead.
    Incidentally, the couple had four children with the eldest son being JeetuKarmakar (18) followed by daughters ChandniKarmakar (16), AlokaKarmakar (12) and youngest son Krishna Karmakar (7).

    “The accused who has been arrested is claiming that he had attacked wife suspecting her of illicit relation but the daughter AlokaKarmakar who was present with her mother said that the fight was over denial of money to drink liquor.,” the police official said.The body has been kept at MGM Medical College and Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
