36 percent rain deficit in East Singhbhum district in July, 44% in June

Jamshedpur, Aug. 1: East Singhbhum district witnessed 36 percent less rainfall from average in the months of July while in the month of June there was 44 percent less rainfall than average.

This was discussed during the district agriculture task force meeting held at district collectorate on Monday.

The meeting headed by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar reviewed progress report of agriculture, land protection, cooperation, fisheries, animal husbandry, micro irrigation etc. According to the rainfall figures Potka block received the maximum rainfall in the district with 40.6 mm.

Apparently unsatisfied with the progress report of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan disbursement, DC ordered the district agriculture officer and leading bank management to speed up the work.

During the dhoba (farm pond) construction review, district land conservation officers during the submission of the report stated 2300 dhobas have been constructed against the target of 4015.

Amit Kumar informed the officials that there are plans to organize Kalyan Mela in the district very soon and all officials should prepare themselves for the fair.

Informing about the cover of kharif crops, district agriculture officer said that maize crop cover is better than all other crops in the district – just 89.3 percent of the target.

Executive engineer of micro irrigation, district public relation officer, district land protection officer, cooperatives officer, district fishery officer, district animal husbandry officer, district bank management, DDM Nabard and others were present at the meeting.
