Jamshedpur: The 11th edition of Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz – a knowledge initiative by the Tata group had its Jamshedpur regional round today amidst an enthralling battle of wits. Sneha Ranjan and Srijan Das from Tata teel emerged victorious and successfully made it to the zonal finals to be held in Kolkata after competing with and challenging some of the sharpest minds of their city.
Giving the winners a tough competition, Bhawna Thakur and Dr. Amitabh Thakur from Tata Motors bagged the runners-up position. Chief Guest for the event Anand Sen, President, TQM & Steel Business, Tata teel gave away a prize of Rs. One lac to the winning team and Rs. Fifty thausand to the runners-up team. The winners of the national final will receive a grand prize of Rs. Seven lacs along with the coveted Tata Crucible Trophy.
Anand Sen, President, TQM & Steel Business, Tata Steel while congratulating the teams said, “The Tata Crucible journey through the last decade has been an exciting one as it grew from 9 cities to 25 cities. We are very pleased that numerous young minds from the corporate world have been able to showcase their talent in this exciting competition”.
The Tata group in its endeavors to give back to the society and harness a culture of giving, amongst the participants had introduced a charitable component to the quiz last year. The same will be followed this year where in Rs. 2 lakhs from National Winning team’s prize and Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000 from the Regional Winners and Runners up prize respectively will be contributed directly to a charity of the team’s choice fulfilling specified conditions.
The Jamshedpur regional round of Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz 2014 saw participation from 82 teams from some of the leading companies. The top 4 teams of the quiz were selected after a written preliminary round 2 more teams were selected through a wild card round. The other four teams that qualified for the top 6 list included E G Khan and Mohit R Bhatt from Tata Steel, Arnav Pandey and James N from Tata Hitachi, Abhishek Pandey and Nikhil Vatsa from Tata Steel, GoerJackson and Mr. M K Rajesh from Tinplate. This year, Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz is being conducted in 25 cities and it integrates the Tata and the non-Tata track for the first time since its inception.
