11 leprosy patients get houses on Leprosy Day


    Jadugora: Zila Parishad member Pratima Rani Mandal handed over 11 newly built housing units to leprosy patients of the Dinbandhu Kushtha Ashram in Durku village of Jadugora on Monday.

    The beneficiaries who were given possession of the houses include Baha Hansda, Chandra Mohan Gope, Puna Sardar, Somwari Majhi, Tilo Mahato, Rajan Bhakta, Sukurmuni Karmakar, Phulo Hansda, Singrai Bhumij and Sudarshan Kumar.
    Mandal said the 11 housing units were constructed at an expense of Rs 20 lakh under Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) scheme in the year 2015.

    The houses were formally handed over to the leprosy patients on the occasion of World Leprosy Day. The leprosy patients apprised the public representatives about their various problems and demanded construction of boundary wall and road near the Kushtha Ashram.

    Among others present on the occasion included Hiramuni Murmu, Karunamaya Mandal and Lakhicharan Singh.
