11 IEDs weighing 44 kgs recovered in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, May 31: In a major breakthrough against Naxalite insurgents, security forces successfully recovered a significant cache of explosives from West Singhbhum district. The operation, carried out by a joint team of state police and paramilitary forces, resulted in the discovery and seizure of 11 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing a total of 44 kilograms from the hilly areas of Tonto and Goilkera police station areas.

During the search operation in the border area of village Tumbahaka and Anjadbeda under Tonto police station and in the border area of village Kuida and Maradiri under Goilkera police station, five pressure IEDs, one IED planted by the Naxalites in the forest area around village Tumbahaka under Tonto police station was recovered.

According to information, top leaders of banned CPI Maoists Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Chaman, Kande, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin along with their squad members are roaming in Kolhan area. In the same sequence, police personnel have been successful in recovering 11 IEDs and pressure bombs, one spike hole (arrow) planted by Naxalites from the forested hilly areas of Tonto and Goilkera police station areas.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of Naxalite insurgents in the area, security forces swiftly launched a targeted operation to neutralize the threat. The operation was conducted with utmost precision and caution to minimize any potential harm to civilians and security personnel.

Upon entering the Naxal den, the security forces encountered a well-fortified hideout, which showcased the meticulous planning and preparation of the insurgents. The recovery of the 11 IEDs, each weighing approximately 4 kilograms, points to the insurgents’ intention of carrying out devastating attacks against security forces and public infrastructure.

The recovered IEDs were defused by a team of bomb disposal experts, ensuring the safety of the surrounding areas. The authorities have expressed relief that these explosives were detected and rendered harmless before they could be deployed, potentially saving numerous lives.

The operation signifies a significant setback to the Naxalite insurgency in the region.
