1000 panchayats to be declared zero dropout: CS

Ranchi, Aug 11: Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today announced that 1000 panchayats of the state would be declared zero drop out on 15th August.

Reviewing School Education and Literacy here, Verma said that 1500 panchayats have already been announced zero drop out in the first phase, according to an official release. She said Chief Minister Raghubar Das had categorically directed the state authorities to fix accountability on the district education officials and block level education officials.

Even dismissal action would be taken if any laxity found against any education officials, she said adding action would also be taken against teachers if found absent from schools, said the CS.

Verma said that better work is being done in the field of education, adding that August 20 around 6.90 lakh illiterates would appear literacy test in 4204 centres.

She also stressed the need to ensure registration of pupils passing class XII from Kasturba Gandhi Vidyala for higher education or skill portal.
This would ensure state government s objective for girl education and that empowerment of women would move forward, she said.

The Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Aradhana Patnaik, officials in the education department and district educational officials were present through video conferencing, the release said.
